Various animated Quill fanart pieces Personal projects These are VR experiments I made in Quill and occasionally some additional compositing or rendering in After Effects and Blender. Quill by Smoothstep is a software that works with any Meta (or Oculus) headset as long as it’s connected to a PC, allowing you to draw and animate in three-dimensional space inside VR. I’ve been experimenting with this medium since 2019 and I‘ve already integrated Quill in my workflow in some projects.
Visit my profile at Meta Quest Media Studio, and if you own a Meta headset, you can experience my work in VR by clicking on “watch in device” or adding them to your watch-later list. I added links to the works displayed here, in case they are available to view in VR.
This one here is a fanart for the French comic series “S.A.M.” by Richard Marazano and Xiao Shang. Scroll down for some more.
Here is a behind the scenes edit for the Quill piece above. I placed some pages from the comic inside the VR scene and built the 3D environment based on the information in various panels of the comic. I then imported the 3D file into Blender and added additional lighting and the waterplane. In the end I did a short storyboard test with Grease Pencil.
Quill fanart animation from 2020 for the Gamer “Hyper Light Drifter” by Heart Machine. It’s one of my favourite games in the last decade and I love the art style and the visual language of it.
